Why we are building Aospix in public

Aospix is a Linux desktop still being formed. The site you are on is the public face of that work: a place to see the direction, and a place to leave an email if you want to hear when there is something real to try.

Building in public is a constraint, not a marketing line. It means the interesting decisions get written down while they are still decisions, not after they have hardened into a changelog nobody reads.

What you can expect

Notes here will stay specific. A post should tell you what we are aiming at, what we tried, and what we left behind. Screenshots when they help. No countdown to a download that does not exist yet.

  • What the desktop is for, and who it is not trying to please.
  • Progress on the pieces we are actually building.
  • The people and the working style behind it.

What we will not do

We will not pretend a foundation is a finished product. If you want a desktop you can install today, the Linux world already has several serious ones. Aospix starts from a different brief: calm, quick, and easy to shape around how you work.

If that brief is the one you have been missing, leave an email. We will write when there is something worth your time.

How to follow along

The journal is the record. The home page is the invitation. If a decision is still open, the note will say so. If we publish a direction and later change it, the newer note will point back here rather than quietly rewriting history.

You can read every note from the journal. Shorter updates also go to X and LinkedIn. The point of writing it down now is that the reason stays attached to the work, even after the interface changes.
